Avrupa Uzay Ajansı, en iyi astronotlarından ikisi olan Ariane ve Thomas'ı Hope 01 bilimsel keşif göreviyle uzaya gönderir. Görevleri gezegeni araştırarak insanlığın burada yeni bir hayat kurup kuramayacağını öğrenmektir.
