  • I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere and thought people might find it interesting.
    There are new versions of the top-end shields in the 1.0.4 files with increased max block to match a Sacred Shield (though, min block remains the same, giving them a much larger range):
    Comparison:
    Defender: 1,445-1,549 (old) -> 1,446-4,707 (new)
    Scutum: 1,550-1,959 (old) -> 1,550-4,706 (new)
    Aegis: 1,960-2,794 (old) -> 1,960-4,706 (new)
    Dread Shield: 2,795-3,705 (old) -> 2,795-4,707 (new)
    Sacred Shield: 3,706-4,706 (unchanged)
    http://www.d3lexicon.com/item-type/shield (Note: the old base items don't have the "Legacy" flag set, so they are still included in that listing, but probably won't drop anymore. People will have to be careful on the AH if they care about the new block values since old rares probably won't be marked with the "Legacy" tag like the old Legendary/Set items look like they will be.)
    Here's how the average block amount has improved:
    Defender: 1,497 (old) -> 3,076.5 (new)
    Scutum: 1,754.5 (old) -> 3,128 (new)
    Aegis: 2,377 (old) -> 3,333 (new)
    Dread Shield: 3,250 (old) -> 3,751 (new)
    Sacred Shield: 4,206 (unchanged)
    That's a pretty big buff to the ilvl 59+ shields. Sacred is still clearly the best, but Dread Shield has closed half the gap which should help make crafted shield more competitive.
