So yeah, today we’re doing something special. Since it’s August 2025—30 years since the launch of Windows 95 - we’re taking it for a spin on modern hardware. Because why not mix brand-new hardware with 30-year-old software: Windows 95A. By the way, the 'A' stands for the initial release from August 1995 (although I think the copy I used is actually from February 1996).
For details on installing Windows 95 on modern hardware, check out this video: https://youtu.be/6xAgMiTNk3Q which explains the procedure on a Socket 1700/Intel 13th Gen CPU. The process is exactly the same for AMD systems (AM4/AM5), and I actually used the SSD from the Intel build with this AM5 setup.

In this video, I’m also taking a closer look at the StarTech PEX2PCI4 PCIe-to-PCI enclosure, which adds 4 classic PCI slots to any modern system with a PCIe slot. Perfect for retro builds and industrial use—but not exactly cheap. Thankfully, this one has a redriver chip for stable signals across a 1.5m cable (something cheaper enclosures skip). https://www.youtube.com/watch?si=SSNgANu4-5V5UlpG&v=e32NfT06FrU&feature=youtu.be< Bu mesaj bu kişi tarafından değiştirildi şoray uzun yolda -- 5 Eylül 2025; 1:44:32 > |
