Vittorio Monti's Csárdás is a popular rhapsodical concert piece composed in 1904. Though he was Italian, Monti based the folkloric work on the Hungarian folk dance of the same name. It is his most famous composition and is often performed by virtuoso violinists and other instrumentalists.
