Private Server Oyuncularına Geçmiş Olsun!!! (2. sayfa)

They added a new feature to the wotlk client that reports to blizzard the ip of any and all private servers it connects to. 
   
  This is their scheme for bypassing those disclaimers on the private server websites. They don't need to get to the website to gather evidence about the private server if the official client tattles! Then they go in with their DMCA notice. and poof. Server downed. No long legal battle needed, the client tattle feature provides their proof. 
   
  What this boils down to is public servers are not safe to run with wotlk. If you conenct to a server on a public internet address with the 3.0.3 client, blizzard KNOWS, and knows where the server is too. 
   
  True private servers, with private IP addresses (behind Hamachi, or on a dedicated LAN) would be immune to this problem, as the clients will be unable to report back to blizzard, and if they can they will just get a lan private IP, which doesnt' even prove the server is on your LAN. 
   
  Naturally patching the client yourself to try and remove this tattle tale feature ALSO violates the DMCA, and any other countries WIPO traty compliance provision. 
   
  Also if you play on retail, it's possible you may get you account banned for connection to other servers, because they now have a way to somewhat reliably detect it. "Hmm, this IP connected to illegal servers, and it also connected to this official account... what should we do?" 
   
  Also note that the WotLK software license actually forbids you from connecting to private servers, not just running them. And if you play retail, they can detect that you are going on even private servers, unless you are isolated form the real internet while doing so (on Hamachi or some other VPN)
